Have you ever been in debt and felt that there was no one to help? Ever felt worried about losing your home? Needed or need practical advice about benefits, paying bills, managing money?
As part of the Cornwall TCA programme, Made Open are working with a number of local residents to understand what types of information and support services are most needed and how organisations can work better together. Our goal is to help local citizens proactively manage their debt and any changes to their welfare; at the right time and place for them.
If you’ve had an experience that you would like to share, or if you have an idea for better support relating to debt and welfare, please come along to one of the following open community ‘drop in’ sessions.
Penryn – 13th/14th June – Job Centre Plus
Torpoint – 20th June – St James Church (free tea and cake)
St Austell – 23rd June – Job Centre Plus
Bude – 27th June – The Parkhouse Centre (free tea and cake)
We are also asking local citizens to fill in this resident questionnaire and give feedback on some emerging ideas. Here are some of the ideas that have been shared so far:
An automated 24/7 text messaging survey that matches people with partners based on the information they have provided.
A directory of self help information and tools, brought together in one place from reliable sources from across the web.
Peer-to-peer support from people in the community who have faced similar challenges via a safe (and anonymous) forum.
