Our Work

We’re proud to be creating change with leading government authorities, businesses and voluntary sector organisations.

Creating Community Links in Cornwall

We are excited to announce that the first phase of The Cornwall & Isles of Scilly Link is live. We have been working closely with Age UK Cornwall & Isles of Scilly to create an online service that connects older people with advice, local support and social activities. The aim is to reduce social isolation and improve health and wellbeing.

Connecting Camphill Village Trust

We've been working with Camphill Village Trust to create 'CONNECT' - an app that encourages people to network digitally but with additional safeguards of local administrators who know each person in their CVT community.

Monmouthshire Made Open

Monmouthshire County Council are bringing partners from different backgrounds, sectors and locations together to explore the benefits of a collective approach to solving local challenges; where institutions provide the platform for a broader collection of partners to come together, define problems and solutions.

Made Open Tasmania

Made Open Tasmania is a Collective Impact partnership between Anglicare Tasmania, Heart Foundation, Central Coast Council, Australian Red Cross and BOFA In Action; and is a groundswell movement for change that is supported by local government.

Our Monmouthshire

Monmouthshire County Council have already started developing their wellbeing plan by engaging citizens and collaborating with community partners to understand whats important to local people. To help them assess the wellbeing of local communities, we designed a citizen engagement campaign to capture issues, opinions and gather ideas for the future from local people.

Connecting Bristol

Connecting Bristol is the City’s digital partnership and is coordinated by the Bristol City Council’s City Innovation Team.  The team strives to pilot the potential of the latest smart technologies to ensure that Bristol becomes a resilient, sustainable, prosperous, inclusive and livable place. Their work is delivered in partnership with other public sector agencies, the private sector and the community and their representatives.

UK Export Ideas Lab

In July 2015, the UKTI’s former Chief Executive Dominic Jermey invited the UK business community for ideas to double UK exports by 2020. This one-day exercise spanning nine design-led workshops across the UK amassed nearly 300 members and 100 ideas, informing UKTI’s 2020 growth programme.

European Centre for the Environment and Human Health

A citizen science partnership project. We worked with the European Centre for the Environment and Human Health (Exeter University) to research and prototype a citizen science project exploring links between Health and Habitat.

BT Telehealth

We redefined this service for the ‘sick and elderly’ to one where people can stay independent at home for longer.

Adoption & Fostering in Cornwall

Working with Cornwall Council, we created a website and series of films to share the stories of families who have adopted or fostered children. Previously, Cornwall Council’s information  sat on their main website and it struggled to connect with families in an engaging way.

Volunteering platform for Bristol

We’re excited to announce that the Made Open platform is supporting Bristol's city-wide volunteering strategy. New functionality will enable voluntary sector organisations and community groups to share their volunteering opportunities in one place, whilst enabling volunteers from across the city to advertise their availability and skillsets.

Designing solutions to help people at risk of redundancy

As part of the Designs of the Time Cornwall programme run by the Design Council and Cornwall Council, we conducted research, explored ideas and co-designed solutions that could improve prospects for people who are made redundant.

Designing solutions to prevent falls

Teignbridge District Council spends £890,000 per year on house adaptations. With insufficient finances to meet the growing demand for housing services and adaptations, they asked Made Open to explore a user-centred design led approach to trial new ways of making homes safer and reducing falls. We explored the issue in more depth and co-developed new ideas for service and system changes.
