Our innovative platform can be customized to suit any community of purpose or place; and is being utilised by local authorities and charitable trusts in England, Wales and Australia.
Engage in community dialogue by asking questions of the community and responding to their questions with your own ideas. Our platform also enables members to respond to polls and sign up to community events. All members can form and join groups to tackle problems and embrace opportunities, together. Interested in community-led impact partnerships? Here’s a handy guide.
Earn, trade or donate community credits by letting members exchange community-based goods and services via a locally created currency (in the same way as Timebanking and LETS schemes). Offers and requests can be added on behalf of others who aren’t digitally literate; and there are also safeguards to screen and verify members.
Access a ‘go to’ place for project planning and delivery so that local groups can jointly identify a problem or opportunity; form a public or private action group; create and store plans; interact with other group members either jointly or 1:1; assign tasks; follow up on progress; call meetings; and use polls to canvass opinion on solutions.
Find volunteers, money and materials for projects by reaching out for support from other members of your community. Our platform can help members to post their volunteering opportunities; crowdfund for community projects; and source free or loaned materials.
“52% of our citizens already help out in their community at least 3 times a year. To make community action more accessible, we have opened the website, Can-Do Bristol, a digital platform designed purely for communities to help themselves, connecting people and businesses to projects looking for help.”
Lead Officer, Torbay Community Development Trust
“We believe that the Made Open platform, incorporating exchanges and timebanking, provides what is needed to stimulate positive social action in communities. Made Open have been a brilliant partner, working with us at every stage and even investing in our requirements. I cannot recommend the Made Open system and organisation enough. It is not easy to find a partner with the same values and approach to partnership.”

“Our approach is based on the belief that people in our community are capable and want to make a difference. We are using Made Open to create a network that better connects individuals and groups to transform our place, community and economy.”

CEO, Monmouthshire County Council
“We have always valued conversations and for the past few years we have been holding a series of forums where local people can share their ideas about solutions to the challenges we face. Made Open gives us a platform to take conversations to another level.”
Co-ordinator, Raising Films CIC
“Thank you for your amazing support with setting up the Raising Films community platform so quickly. It’s a huge weight off my mind and we are already seeing the benefits of creating such a user friendly social networking system.”
Children and Community Programmes Coordinator, Anglicare
“We’ve been working really really hard but we’ve been working in isolation…and that’s no way to create change in communities. We need to be much better at listening to each other, and Made Open enables us to do that.”
“During the whole day ideas and conversations were also happening on the Export Jam Made Open website, a very simple but very effective discussion platform. It allowed people not at the events to take part and the ideas in the room to be captured.”
